Fantasy worlds have dominated culture in recent years, so it’s no surprise that these distant realms have begun influencing interior trends as well. So much so, in fact, that the aptly named, “Castlecore” has been identified as one of Pinterest’s top trending styles for 2025.
This new medieval focus in both style and décor follows the footsteps of previous trends like “Cottagecore” and “Regencycore” that have us evoking a style of time-gone-by in our homes.
In fact, here at Drench we too have noted a considerable uptake in interest for traditional bathroom furniture, which has grown by 25% in the last 30 days with an increase of 15% in sales over the past 3 months.
There’s no surprise this trend is flourishing, especially in bathrooms, as it has a timeless and traditional elegance and air of romanticism - everything we crave for our bathrooms, a place of relaxation and sanctuary, to be.
How to bring Castlecore into your bathroom
The key to a perfect medieval-inspired bathroom comes by choosing statement pieces that speak to this style but don’t overwhelm your space. You can go as big or as small as you like with this, from finding the perfect deep freestanding tub and stone tiling to smaller upgrades with vintage-inspired chandelier lighting, an ornate mirror and plenty of textured accessories in velvet or linen.
Here’s some key elements to consider.
1. Roll top bath
A roll top bath evokes a sense of luxury and timelessness, aligning perfectly with the Castlecore aesthetic. Opt for a freestanding bath with claw feet in aged brass, antique bronze, or matte black to channel a medieval-inspired look. Pair the bath with an old-world faucet featuring cross-handle taps and bronze or brass finishes to add to the rustic charm.
2. Ornate wall lighting
Ornate wall lighting is a defining feature of the Castlecore aesthetic. Think wrought iron sconces, lantern-style fixtures, or candle-like wall lights to create a moody, medieval vibe. Finishes like blackened metal, antique brass, or dark pewter are ideal for achieving this look. For a dramatic effect, place them symmetrically around a focal point, such as a mirror, to cast warm, ambient light in your rooms.
3. Medieval mirrors
Medieval-style mirrors can anchor the Castlecore aesthetic in any space. Look for mirrors with arched, gothic-inspired frames or intricate carvings that mimic medieval motifs. A distressed wood finish, antiqued gold leaf, or weathered iron frame can enhance the authenticity of the style. In bathrooms, position a medieval mirror over a vanity with stone or wood elements to blend rustic textures with regal elegance.
4. Consider your finishes
The finishes you choose are critical for tying these elements together. Castlecore thrives on materials and textures that feel aged, authentic, and tactile. Opt for finishes like aged brass, bronze, antique gold, textured stone or slate and distressed wood.
By blending these elements and finishes, you can create a space that feels both timeless and uniquely yours, with all the charm of a medieval retreat.
Castlecore is a trend we envisage developing throughout 2025 and there is plenty of inspiration out there to extend this look to other areas of your home such as the bedroom and even the kitchen! Check out our blog on designing a period bathroom for more inspiration on this growing trend!
